I actually might prefer the SX90R keywork and I really appreciate the adjustable palm keys. It really took no time at all for me to move from my Yanagisawa T901 keywork to the SX90R. I had heard people say that it takes some time to get used to the key work since Keilwerth didn't copy the Selmer model. High-gloss polished mechanisms feature a lacquer finish. I saved close to $2K, but if I would have sent it back I would have been out hundreds for duty and costs associated with getting it through customs. Regarding price: Everyone is different, but to me below $5,500 can make sense for a new Keilwerth, but once you get to $6K-$7K you are close to buying a Mark VI. The low end plays really easily, and I think that an easy low end says something about the quality of the horn. The build on the Keilwerth seems to have the same high quality, and I prefer the bigger, less bright, sound of the Keilwerth. It has needed very few adjustments over the years. I purchased a Yanagisawa T901 new five years ago, and it is a very good horn. Mine had a couple posts get bumped, but it was an easy fix for my tech. It may need a pad or two otherwise it is in nice condition for a 34 year old horn.
